End of the month

Well, April is over, and this is the last post for April Drawing. The first is a set of perspective exercises. The remaining two are ref'd images from two Watson-Guptil figure photo books, or based on them. They are attempts to get an image done.

Closing thoughts: I'm glad to have gotten through another month. I only missed three days out of a total of thirty, so that's not too bad. The only disappointment I have is, aside from some challenges I actually attempted (things like the stick figure comic and the perspective exercise) none of my images are exactly finished. I wish I had finished a piece that was really polished. That's an aim for next year, and for my art in general.

More Princess Tutu designs and Earth Day

It took a while, but late last night I got some designs for Ahiru's look for the contest. Not sure if the marker version is the one I'll use; part of me is partial to a particular dress.

Also, today's Earth Day and the challenge was to draw a tree or other plant. So I decided to draw it without paper. Got to play around with Painter.

PT contest designs

Club Tutu is having a contest where we take the characters from Princess Tutu and set them in the modern day. Below are my initial designs for Pique and Lilie. Now to do Ahiru.

Waterhouse hand study

Hello. Today's postings are pics of a study I did of Waterhouse's Destiny. It was prompted by CGtalk's latest OFDW, which are usually some kind of master copies. This time it's hands. Final version below.

Gurren Lagann studies and contours

The challenge for the 17th was to do a pic in an artist's style. I wanted to do something in Gainax's style, but I've never drawn anything in their style. So I did some studies of one of their more recent series Teppen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Today's challenge was to do some blind contours. I like blind contours. These were done at the Julie Smith Museum here in Auburn. They currently have an exhibit of African masks.

30 second sketches

I recently found this little site that's great for doing exercises. It's Pose Maniacs 30 second drawing, and it gives you 3D anatomically correct poses at various angles to draw for set times to draw. Here are some I did today.

04-15 MS Paint

Today's challenge: draw a picture with MS Paint and with a mouse. Only Paint and a mouse. This was hard.

April drawing dump!

Clearly, I have been neglecting the posts here. Well, I've been doing my best to keep up. Here's what I've been doing.

Progression of a Bargue exercise.

Today's image. My first attempt with pastels. Clearly, I failed miserably.

sticks

Well, stick figures. Challenge for today: stick figures. These are based off some pics in a dance mag.

For some reason, I've been wanting to draw Death and Delirium from Gaiman's Sandman series. This is my first real attempt at drawing Death, and I plan to come back to it later this month, get things in that I didn't complete in this one.

April drawing time!

It's that time of the year again. April Drawing! The LJ community has started up again and I did a little drawing near the cutoff time for the first night. Here's a frustrated doodle. That's what I get for not drawing everyday.
