hand studies, night one

Over in the character design thread, my fellow classmate/threadmate arkos78 suggested working on our hands, prompted by the poor results of my character design (seen here), but he admitted his need work too. So we're working on hands until Saturday, and posting as we go. click for larger.

character design homework 1

I'm being mentored in the CA.org forums in character design. Funshack's prompt for this exercise is a human musician, male or female, who loves nature, doesn't like to wear shoes, and can use his/her instrument like a weapon. Here's the start of my idea.

color study one

CA.org has a wonderful mentoring section where people can learn a number of art skills. A number are for mentors and select mentorees only, but a few encourage following along. This is one I did from Jens's color studies thread. First time really doing a digital painting like this. Glad they're supposed to be simple.

Endcatcher: Aang

This bit of fanart is a response to Becky's little game over at deviantArt. It's called Endcatcher, and I got the follow-up to "Saya," done by PhantomSpider. Aang begins with "A," so here he is. I'm pleased with how quickly I got him drawn.

TF:A OC

I've been watching Transformers: Animated on Cartoon Network recently. I'm still a little meh about it overall (only fav episode is "Thrill of the Hunt"), but that doesn't stop me from playing around with a fan character. Right now, and easiest, is a human character. Why? Because I noticed that mid-21st century Detroit civilians where clothes out of the 70s. Can't pass up a chance like that! click for larger version.

This is a human scientist, one who works on cybernetics and biotech. Interest, improving the simulations of nervous systems in technological analogs, with the intention of using them for prostheses. Yeah, she has a prosthetic leg. I'll come back to her design when I can better emulate the show's style.

OFDW 22

I am taking part in
CGTalk's Open Figure Drawing Workshop 22, and my intention is to take my good sweet time finishing it. I'm basing my first set on part of Joel Mongeon "plung"'s 3D rendering, which can be found here. My first day rendering is below, click for larger size.
